Dana Lee Dennis, 68, of Lees Summit, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Lees Summit Medical Center with her husband of 44 years, Dale, by her side.
Dana was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 4, 1956 to Walter Scott Paterson and Marilyn Joyce (Smith) Paterson. She spent much of her youth in Southern California before moving with her family to Dixon, MO where she graduated high school. She was given in marriage to Dale F. Dennis on March 7, 1981 in Lees Summit, MO.
Dana was a career care giver, working in several capacities within the medical field including, but not limited to, Emergency Medical Technician, and Operating Room Technician in Springfield, MO, Waynesville, MO, Denver Colorado and the Kansas City area. She would later work in hospital staffing and customer service.
Her nurturing instinct went beyond the scope of the medical field. Dana was a devoted Christian and believed that faith could only be practiced in action. She was a 35-year member of Lees Summit Baptist Temple, where she sang in the choir and faithfully served in their children’s ministry. She loved the Lord, and desired for her actions to reflect Christ’s endless love to others. She had a childlike faith and believed in honoring the Lord in the every day, small things in life. She was, more than she could ever know, a bridge over troubled waters for many and will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Marilyn Paterson; brother-in-law Steve Seifert, nieces Sarah Peneston, Jenna Paterson, and Stacee George Hicks. She is survived by her husband Dale Dennis of Lees Summit and three sons: Nathan Dennis (Kerri) of Sugar Creek, MO; Richard Dennis (Amanda) of Grandview, MO; Adam Dennis of Fillmore, UT; grandchildren Rosie (3 years old) and Caspian (19 months); as well as siblings Scott Paterson (Jackie) of Concordia, MO; Cerise Siefert of New Bloomfield, MO; Rhonda Lerma of Springfield, MO; Cindy Major (Don) of Dixon, MO; Kelly Talken (Gary) of Jefferson City, MO; Shelly Paterson of Dixon, MO; Chris Paterson (Shara) of Dixon, MO; and Patrick Paterson (LeAnn) of Jefferson City, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 17th, 10:00am -11:00am. Memorial Service 11:00am-12:00pm
