Daniel Theodore Baer, 89, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Oak Grove, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9th at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Community Services League.

Dan was born September 9, 1928, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Roy Daniel and Ivalee (Baker) Baer. He was an Air Force Veteran and served during the Korean War. Dan was a Junior High English teacher in the Kansas City Public Schools. He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Oak Grove Historical Society, and The Davis Center. Dan was an avid gardener, history buff, and genealogy researcher. In 2009, he published the book: The History of the Descendants of Samuel Bear: The Beginnings in Europe and Settlement in America.
Dan is survived by three daughters: Kathy Quigley (Tim) of Prairie Village, KS, Karen Estes (Steve) of O’Fallon, MO, and Kristi Cooper (John) of Shawnee, KS; eleven grandchildren: Johanna, Julia, and Breanna Quigley; Daniel, Michael, Christopher, Joshua, Elizabeth, and Joel Estes; and John and Marie Cooper; one great-grandson, Steven Estes; and three sisters: Grace Foster of Omaha, NE, Eleanor Holmes of Columbia, MO, and Joanne French of Van Buren, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen; and three sisters: Marge Horn, Mable Rice, and Jane Nama.

3 Aug 2020Dan was a great friend of our family since the 1950’s. My wife and I Always enjoyed visiting with him and Kathleen. He was a good man and will be greatly missed by many, I’m sure. He is with Kathleen now and for sure – they are now both with God. Our Deepest Sympathies to All of his family.
