Danny Lee Cox, 75, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away December 13, 2023. He was born July 5, 1948, the oldest son of Robert S. Cox and Virginia M. (Staton) Cox.
He proudly served his country in The United States Army during the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1970. He received many decorations and honors including Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device (1960), 2 Overseas Service Bars, Sharpshooter Badge (M14), 1st Class Gunner (M16), Expert Badge with Machine Gun Bar (M60), Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Combat Infantrymans Badge.
Danny worked many jobs and considered himself a jack of all trades. A few of his careers included maintenance at Stone Container, an electrician, and later as a driver for Oats Transit. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, woodworking, classic rock, crafts, making clocks, windchimes, and drawing/painting. He also played the role of Santa Claus for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Roger, Johnny, and Richard Cox, and his sisters Linda Cox and Deanna Rousch.
Danny is survived by his brothers Robert (Kris) Cox and Russell Cox, sisters Laura Wilson and Virginia L. Cox. He also leaves behind his daughters Brook (Cox) Garcia and Aimee (Cox) Cassing, many children and grandchildren that he considered his own, and an abundance of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Danny’s family plans to have his ashes interred with Military Honors at The National Veteran’s Cemetery at a future date.
