David A. Snyder

David Allen Snyder, 61, a resident of Grain Valley, Missouri, departed this earth unexpectedly on July 31, 2021. He was born on May 1, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Robert and Mary (Poe) Snyder. Services for David will be held at the Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, Missouri, on Friday, August 6, 2021, beginning at 12:30 pm, with his graveside service to immediately follow.

David was baptized in the Lutheran Church, and as a young boy growing up, his mother loved dressing all six of her sons in their Sunday best to attend services. His family volunteered and cleaned the church for many years. As a boy, he played baseball, football, and ran track. David loved fishing with his dad, brothers, and friends, especially with his best friend Mike Gonzales. He always dreamed of being a carpenter or a truck driver. As a young man, David worked more jobs than most people do in a lifetime, working at a dairy farm, Douglas Chemical Company, waste management, construction, cabinet making, and many more. David’s hobbies included fishing, building model cars, beating everyone at chess, and racing. He even got to do some dirt track racing for a short time. In May of 1993, David married the love of his life, Kim Jevette Huber. Her daughter, Katherine Marie, instantly became his daughter and a part of his heart. Kathy married Jeff Glidewell, a Navy pilot, and David soon had two grandsons and was such a proud PaPa. Kase and Garrett Glidewell were his pride and joy and love their PaPa so much.

David became a self-employed Trucking Owner/Operator in 1993. In 2001, his wife, Kim, began team driving with him. For 19 years, they worked together having many adventures and mini-vacations and traveled through every one of the 48 states in the USA. Together they amassed over 4 million accident-free miles. They gained Secret Military Clearances and hauled ammunition and explosives, nuclear and radioactive materials, and military heavy haul freight such as Bradley tanks, Howitzers, helicopters, and MRAPs. David was a walking, talking encyclopedia of the USA with a map engraved in his brain. In 2019, David sold his trucking business and began working as a Supervisor at Missouri Organic Recycling. He loved his job, but especially loved the people he worked with.

David is preceded in death by his father, Robert Snyder, his mother, Mary (Poe) Snyder, and brothers, Terry Snyder and Robert Snyder.

David is survived by wife Kim Snyder, daughter Kathy Glidewell and husband Jeff, and grandsons Kase and Garrett Glidewell. He is also survived by his three brothers, Patrick Snyder of Virginia, Tracy Snyder and wife Debbie of Indiana, Michael Snyder and wife Melinda of Clinton, Missouri, as well as eighteen beloved nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
