David Lee Comer, 83, of Independence, MO, returned to our Heavenly Father on June 17, 2020. At David’s request, there will be no funeral service. We will honor his wish for a simple private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, if so inclined, David would have been touched by a donation to the Humane Society. humanesociety.org.
David was born December 7, 1936 in Independence, MO, to Joseph A. & Ruth (Peterman) Comer. He married Anita Jean Brewer on August 26, 1953 and they were blessed with 67 years together, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. David served as an automotive mechanic and a manager in the propane service and distribution business during his life. Most importantly, he served as a loyal Christian, husband, father, friend, strong advocate and participant of youth sports, and treasured mentor to countless many. David was a Giant among us whose love for Christ Jesus made this his most important gift to those whose lives he so deeply touched. His faith and love of family, friends, nature, and the beauty of the universe made this Son of God an amazingly special treasure to those who were pleased to know him.
David is survived by his wife Anita; children: Roxanne (Clyde) Wenger, David Comer, Larry Comer, Monte Comer, and Chris Comer; sisters, Connie Fraizer and Mitzi Akins; brother Roger Comer; and his beloved dog Max. He was preceded in death by his parents.
