Deborah “Debi” Jean Walker, 62, passed away July 24, 2021 at KC Hospice House. Graveside services will take place on Friday July 30, 2021 at Buckner Hill Cemetery in Buckner, Mo. Family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Debi was born in Independence on April 22, 1959 to Ronald and Carol (Spangler) Brooks. Debi never knew a stranger; often stopping to pray for a “new friend” she had just made while waiting in the checkout line. She loved taking care of others. A necessary job change to school Para was the perfect opportunity for her to use her God given gift of caring for others. She often used her artistic and crafting talent to brighten the days of everyone around her. Debi loved spending time with family, friends and turned every get together into a special event. She had a deep affection for the ocean, spending many happy hours searching for shells at Sanibel. She loved the pets and grandpets that shared her life. It is fitting that her sweet dog, Shelbie, is resting with her.
Debi was preceded in death by her father.
Debi was survived by her husband; Steven Walker of the home, daughters, BreAnn Bohannon and Blair (Travis) Brennan; Mother, Carol McKay; Sister, Cindy Knapp; Two stepchildren, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

29 Jul 2021Debbie and I recently reconnected on Facebook, but spent many Saturdays together while our kids bowled at Lunar Bowl. She was one of the sweetest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. A true Proverbs 31 woman. She is dancing with Jesus now. My sincerest condolences to Steve, Blair, and the entire family!

30 Jul 2021Debbie was one of our beloved “beautiful swimmers” for many summers. (I used to call her “Delicate Flower ” because it took her so long to get in the cold water.) She was so sweet, caring, and a lot of fun to be around. My condolences to her family. God bless you and bring you peace.
