Delores LaHue, 85, passed away peacefully in her home December 21, 2023. She was born to Vernie C. Highfill and Beulah Webb Highfill in Kansas City, Missouri. Delores was the oldest of nine siblings. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1956. Delores was raised with a Baptist upbringing, but in 1968 converted to Pentecostal. Delores married her first husband Earnest Rushing in 1957. They had five children together. She was primarily a homemaker until her children were raised. Delores then went on to work in 1979 at Remel Diagnostic Lab, as a production Labeler, until her retirement in 2003. Delores remarried in the fall of 2005 to Harold LaHue. Delores was a faithful church attendee and had many interests such as an avid reader, loved houseplants, baking, canning, ELVIS music and movies, fishing, KU Basketball, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Delores is survived by her children, Deborah Clement of Butler, MO., Bryan Rushing of Hume, Mo., Melissa Rosson (Dwayne) of Amoret, MO., and by two sisters Patricia Keil, Janice Smith, and one brother Stanley Highfill. Delores is also survived by her nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, AND Bandit her beloved cat.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband Harold LaHue, two sons, Robert Wayne Rushing and Warren Wade Rushing, Her son in law Timothy A. Clement, and her Great grandson Liam Heller.
Services will be held at: Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home 1823 N Blue Mills Rd. Independence, Mo. 64058 Friday, December 29, 2023. Visitation: 10:00 AM Service: 11:00 AM Internment adjoins the funeral home PH: 816-796-8600

26 Dec 2023So sorry to hear of Delores’s passing – such a beautiful lady – we were friends for many years when she lived in KCKs but sorry to say we lost contact until a few years ago when her and Debbie came to KCKs and we had a lovely lunch and visit! May she Rest in Peace and no longer suffer and join all her Loved ones in Heaven. Condolences and prayers for her family in their time of grief!
