Donald B. Curless


Donald Bruce Curless, 73, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022 with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri.

Donald was born September 6, 1948, in Norwalk, Connecticut to Robert W. and Muriel J. (Cullen) Curless. He went to Boone Elementary and graduated from Bishop Hogan High School. Donald was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a sergeant in Vietnam. After his return, he attended Rockhurst College and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree. He worked for ABF for over 30 years. Donald enjoyed fishing and gardening at the family farm. He was a big Chiefs and Royals fan. Donald loved watching his son race and helped him work on his race cars.

Donald is survived by his wife, Susan Curless of the home; sons: Jason (Michelle) Curless, and Jeremy Curless; daughters: Christy (Garret) Baxter, and Kelly (Ben) Eger; eleven grandchildren: Preston, Chloe, Kaitlyn, Nolan, Madi Jo, Damian, Brett, Bradley, Penelope, Ben Jr. and William; brothers: David Curless and Bobby Curless; sisters: Betsy Allen-Simmons, Barbara Bradish, Cindy Witthar; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association at: www.stroke.org or Vietnam Veterans of America at: 3027 Walnut St. K.C.MO. 64108 – make checks payable to: VVA Chapter 317.

  3. He was a very nice man. He always made the neatest little garden on the corner next to our farm. We loved to drive by and see that corner kept so perfectly. He will be missed.

  4. Don was a good friend of my brother’s from BHHS. He and Sue were close friends of ours way back in the 70’s. I’m sorry I just learned of his passing. He was sincere and genuine. ❤️
