Donald “Corky” Keith Mooney, 85, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017. A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Donald was born on January 17, 1932, son of Delbert and Audrey (Day) Mooney. He was a Marine Veteran and served during the Korean War. He loved genealogy, watching the Royals, and drinking coffee at McDonalds.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
His survivors include his wife of 58 years, Karel Mooney of the home; his son, Ross Mooney (Mary) of Blue Springs, MO; his daughter, Dona Morales (Carey) of Lee’s Summit, MO; two grandchildren, Staci Copeland (Trinidy), and Jacob Mooney; and a brother, Thomas Mooney (Vickie) of Excelsior Springs, MO.
