Doris Loreen Johnson, age 89 died June 22, 2022, at home in Bates City, MO.
She was born on the 21st day of January 1933 in Miami County, KS near the community of new Lancaster, at the home of her grandparents, Leroy Hampton and Alpha (Smith) Karr. She was the daughter of Ira Marion and Flo Moraine (Litson) Karr.
She attended 8 years at the one room Sunnyridge School house, south of New Lancaster. After completing all 8 grades she attended high school at Paola, KS and graduated with the class of 1951. After graduation she went to work in Kansas City for Southwestern Bell Telephone. In the fall of 1951 Southwestern Bell moved their offices to Topeka, KS causing her to move there. In 1952 she started working for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company in Paola. In 1953 she worked for Farmers Insurance Company in Kansas City and then in 1969 she got a job at Western Electric, now AT&T and worked for 18½ years. During these years of work she was a 4-H Leader with Concord 4-H club and was a member of many local churches and played the piano while there.
I was preceded in death by my mother and father and a baby sister, Linda Diane Karr and 2 brothers: Dan and wife Shirley Karr, Overbrook, KS and Don Karr, Roanoke, VA.
On the 6th day of April 1998 after my divorce from Ken, I married Everett Weldon Johnson. We lived in Oak Grove, MO until 2014. During this time I worked on genealogy traveling to court houses and the Genealogical Library in Independence. I also feed the birds and squirrels on the back deck. Everett built a squirrel house and hung it in the back tree and we can watch from the kitchen window all the comings and goings of those silly young squirrels each year. In June of 2014 I and Everett moved to Bates City, MO to live with my daughter Flo Reed.
On the 11th day of April 1954, I married Kenneth Lee Reeder who was the son of Eugene and Margaret Anne (Sidner) Reeder, and to this union 4 children were born: Alice (Allie) who married Phil Gurney and they had one son; David Arthur (Jamie Halsey) they have 2 daughters; Hannah Rose and Gracee Mae is due with Doris first great great grandchild. After Phil’s death Alice married Bill Renne. Alice precedes her mother in death. Louis, who married Dell Ann (Marsh) they had 3 children, Louis Jason now deceased, Kami Janese and Leann. Louis divorced Dell Ann and married Carye Sue (Burress) to this union was 2 children; Logan Rai and Jordan Taylor. He divorced Carye and married Janet Mae (Pierson); Dennis, who married Beverly Darlene (Groseclose) and they had 2 girls; Amanda Sue Evans (Robby Evans) they have one son Finnlie Evans, and Samantha Rae Triplett (Luther Triplett) and they have one son Quinn Triplett. Dennis preceded his mother in death. Flo who married Terry Ray Bebout and they had 2 children: Sara Elizabeth who married Bobby Lee Goddard they had 4 children; Shanon Marie, Dallas James, Jolene Sue and Hailley Rose; Conrad Ray who married Sarah Nicole (Maxwell) and they have one son Kenneth Ray. Conrad divorced Sarah and married Brittany Marie (Paul) they have one daughter Adeline Marie. Flo divorced Terry Bebout and many years later married Kirby Reed whom she divorced there was no issue with this union.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 26th in Perdee Cemetery, Grain Valley, MO.
