Douglas Kent McCarty, 63, of Independence, Missouri, passed away January 4, 2016 at his home. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17th at the RLDS Devon Park Restoration Branch, 824 E. Devon Street, Independence, MO 64055. Memorial services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Cremation.
Doug was born October 12, 1952 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Leo Deward and Betty Jane (Metzger) McCarty. He moved to Independence in 1969 and was a 1970 graduate of Truman High School. He attended Graceland College following high school. Doug was a member and a priest at the RLDS Devon Park Restoration Branch Church. He had worked for the Carondelet Nursing Home and health care services in Kansas City.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother Betty in 1999. His survivors include his father, Leo McCarty of the home; and his aunt & uncle that helped raise him, Wilma June and George Victor Canfield of Independence.
