Edward Richard Hensley Sr., 85, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 10th at St. Jude Catholic Church in Oak Grove, with visitation from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 6:30 p.m.
Richard was born July 1, 1934, in San Angelo, Texas, the son of Jacob and Blanch M. (Royster) Hensley. He was a proud Navy Veteran and a dedicated family man. He worked at the GM Leeds Plant for 30 years and then became a CNA to care for his 1st wife, mother, and brother-in-law in his home.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife, Shirley Hensley; grandson, Jacob Robinson; two brothers, Clarence & J.C. Coulter; and sister, Fayrene Chandler.
His survivors include his wife, Aura Hensley of the home; five children: Debbie Smith (Lewis) of Blue Springs, MO, Edward Hensley Jr. (Sandy) of Kansas City, MO, Sheryl O’Connell (Roland) of Lone Jack, MO, Douglas Hensley (Lori) of Bradenton, FL, and Rhea Stuart (Corey) of Blue Springs; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and sister, Adeline Clark of Kansas City, MO.
