Ed was born November 14, 1936, in Hayti, Missouri, to Johnny Edward and Armettie (Hollingsworth) Murray. He was a member of the Community of Christ. Ed joined the service in July 1954 and served 3 years in the Army National Guard. He loved music and played his guitar. Ed had a band and played all over including in Nashville. He loved to tell the story that he gave Barbara Fairchild her first gig at 14 years old. After he stopped playing with his band, he moved to Springfield, MO, and sold real estate. After his first wife died, he moved to Blue Springs. Ed met Pebble at Vesper Hall at Blue Springs. He and Pebble spent several years together and were married in May 2006 at their home in Oak Grove, MO. Soon after this, they started spending their winters in Texas. Ed’s health started declining so they sold their house in Texas and moved back to Oak Grove around 2016. In 2018, they moved into The Parkway Senior Center in Blue Springs.
Ed leaves his wife Pebble of Parkway; daughter, Deana Schroeder of Cypress, TX; son, Jim Murray of Concordia, MO; Pebble’s children: Doug (Yvette) Kinney of Grain Valley, Debbie (Bruce) Whitsitt of Odessa, Cindy (Bill) Hiles of Bates City, and Claude (Jessica) Kinney of Calgary, Canada; sister-in-law, Lois Shaw of Barbados; and brother-in-law, Adrain (Carolyn) Phelps of Holden, MO.

18 Jul 2021To the Family of Ed. I just learned of his passing today. My heartfelt condolences to Pebbles and the entire family.
Ed was such a beautiful soul. I met Ed & Pebbles while @ The Parkway. Ed and I sang songs together during the happy hour @ The Parkway when I was visiting my Mother In Law. I loved the way he’d say my name – emphasizing the “O” on the end – it would always make me smile. I would stop and say “Hello” to both he and Pebbles anytime I was there to eat with my MIL.
You all are in my prayers.
