Edward L. Stanger


Edward Lee Stanger, 82, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, October 23, 2023.  Services will be held at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, MO.  Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral will be Friday, November 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.

Edward was born on July 18, 1941 in Kansas City, MO son of Everett and Ruth (Williams) Stanger. He was the proud owner of ABC Auction and Realty for 42 years.  Edward was a Hall of Fame member in the Fort Osage Alumni Association. He retired from Armco Steel after 30+ years.  He served on the Fort Osage School Board and was President as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 57 years, Darlene Kaye; and daughter, Dianna.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Curtis) Privett; sisters: Carol (Bob) Hotter, Pat Stanger; half-sister, Christy Wagner-Walker, grandchildren: Jennifer (Jesse) Ryan, James Privett, Lee Privett, LaRae Privett; great grandchildren: Jackson Ryan, Jillian Ryan, Milo Privett-Theel and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Fort Osage Association, PO Box 182, Buckner, MO 64016.

  1. I have lived next door to Ed since 1965. He and Kaye were the best neighbors ever. He was so helpful and always ready to help in any way he could. I will miss him greatly. As my three sons grew up they called him “uncle Eddie”. Our family sends our condolences. Goodbye old friend.

Your zest for life will be what I will remember most about you, Ed. You will be missed on this earthy plain by so many folks – I will wait till God calls me home to see you again.   3. Ed was one of a kind guy ,had a heart of gold cared about everyone do anything for anyone
    Was a happy go luck guy . But this last year he was fighting Heath problems was a fighter right up to the end
    We talked every day he’d tell me stories of growing up
    Trips he took with his grandkids
    Tell how his great grandson milo was
    I am really going to miss our talks
    He will be missed by a lot of people

  4. Oh Ed, Kenwood will never be the same. Always ready to help whomever, whenever. I’ll miss our little chats but I’m glad you are no longer in limbo with your medical conditions & especially no more suffering.

  5. Ed was a one of a kind. Always going ninety miles a minute. He was like a second Dad to me I will miss you Dearly. You have earned your Wings now fly. I will see you soon give Kay and Diane hugs for me. Give my Dad a Big Hug for me Please. Rest in Peace Dear Ed. Your in a better Place now.
