Elsie M. Russell, 100, of Independence, MO passed away December 9, 2020. Graveside service with burial will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Buckner Hill Cemetery; Buckner, MO.
Elsie was born May 23, 1920 in Marshall, MO to Simon & Geneva (Wichter) King. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to read Danielle Steele novels. Elsie enjoyed watching game shows on TV. She was an elementary school teacher, and in addition to teaching she enjoyed teaching the Constitution to the 7th graders. In her later years, Elsie loved fried chicken, banana bread and cherry pie that her daughters would make and take to her weekly.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband: Ross Russell in 1990; parents: Simon & Geneva King.
Elsie is survived by 2 daughters: Carole Bray (Richard) of Independence, MO, Mary Greble (Jerry) of Blue Springs, MO; 4 grandchildren: Raymond Peterson (Mary) of Warsaw, MO, Leonard Vest (Teresa) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Rhonda Rooks of Independence, MO, Rick Vest (Barbara) of Blue Springs, MO; 8 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.
