Emmett T. Stewart


Emmett T. Stewart, 91, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to the Blue Springs Elks Lodge 2509, for the Elks Christmas Charitable Fund.  Please put Emmett Stewart on the memo line.

Emmett was born January 21, 1931, in Warner, Oklahoma, the son of Theodore and Lorene (Petterson) Stewart.  He married Margaret Hedrick on February 17, 1951.  Emmett served in the United States Army during the Korean War from April 1951 to April 1953.  He worked at Fike Metal Corp. for close to 25 years, retiring in 1993.  Emmett was a member of the Elks Lodge since 1967.  He was very instrumental in stating up the Blue Springs 2509 Lodge in March 1974 and held the position of Exalted Ruler 3 different times.  Emmett enjoyed going to Lake of the Ozarks, hunting, and traveling.  He and Margaret enjoyed a 3-month trip to Alaska.  NASCAR was one of his great loves.

Emmett was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margaret; four brothers: Theodore Stewart, Cleo Stewart, Donnie Stewart, and Ricky Ricketts; and two sisters, Pauline Howerton and Lavinia Ripka.

His survivors include his daughter, Susan Chasteen (Steve) of Independence, MO; son, David Stewart (Kari) of Bates City, MO; grandson, Andrew Chasteen of Independence; three granddaughters: Nikole Chasteen of Independence, Amber Dawson (Andrew) of Oak Grove, MO, and Emily Stewart of Oak Grove; great-grandson, Bhren Dawson of Oak Grove; and many extended family members in Oklahoma.
