Evelyn S. Preston, born Evelyn Carlene Rhudy, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023, at The Parkway Senior Living Center in Blue Springs, Missouri surrounded by loved ones.
Evelyn was born on November 30, 1939, to Mable and Carl Rhudy in Girard, Kansas, where she spent her early years. She attended High School in Independence, Kansas, then married John R. Sell from Pittsburg, Kansas in 1956, and traveled the world for the next 20 years as a Navy wife raising her family. Evelyn married Marine Veteran Stephen E. Preston in 1988 and lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, until Steve’s death in 2000. She moved to Joplin to be near her family in 2004, then to Blue Springs, Missouri in 2018.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Terri Winslow, her husband, Douglass, their four children, and eight grandchildren; her son, Rodney Sell, his wife Kathleen, and their two children; her sister, Connie Sponsel; and her brother, Tom Rhudy. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Join us at Evelyn’s Celebration of Life service on May 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Christ’s Church of Oronogo, Missouri. Evelyn will be interred at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Tennessee, on May 22nd.

9 Mar 2023I am so sorry to hear of Evelyn’s passing. I always enjoyed visiting her at the Parkway while seeing my mother, Jurhee. Evelyn was always smiling and I remember how much she loved her many scarves.

24 May 2023She was a wonderful Aunt. She loved well. Aunt Evelyn was brilliant and could talk about anything. Very high spirited about everything that she believed strong in. I loved her and will miss her horribly until I see her again.
