Garnett Sue Rinehart, 79, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023. Visitation will be held from 3 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday February 5, 2023 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 in Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Garnett was born March 2, 1943 in Newton County, Missouri to Glen J. and Geneva L. (Bowman) Colvin. She spent the early years of her life following her father and grandfather around as they tended to their chores and fixed cars in Neosho, Missouri. After graduating from high school, she married in 1961, had her first child and shortly after moved to the Kansas City area and there she gave birth to her second child. After her move she worked at Hallmark Cards for several years. Her career then continued at Western Electric and then worked many years at United Country until her retirement. In 1971, she married her spouse of 51 years and gained an additional two daughters. She enjoyed dabbling with astrology, shopping and playing solitaire (when she was young, she played double solitaire with her granny). Garnett never really liked cooking but loved spending time with her grandchildren and recently her great-granddaughter. She enjoyed the later years of her life living on Lake Pomme de Terre fishing and boating with her husband and family, watching local wildlife and visiting the local flea markets. She never missed a day of watching her favorite soap, “The Young and the Restless”.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Glenda L. Cohu; and grandson, Ryan J.L. Peterson.
Garnett is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald Rinehart; 3 daughters: Barbara Peterson, LaLysa Bradford (Brian) and Paula Ventresca (Todd); son, Terry Stussy-Chase (Ric); grandchildren, Erin, Derek, Vinnie and Gabriella; and great-grandchild, Harper.
