Gary Wayne McLanahan (55) of Odessa, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on March 26th, 2024. Gary was born on June 9th, 1968, in Long Beach California. He moved to Missouri with his family in 1988. He married Marly Corum in 1992 and they were quickly blessed with three sons. Gary lived a lot of his life behind the wheel of a semi-truck. He always wanted to be an over the road truck driver and loved that his job allowed him to see so many beautiful parts of the country. Some of his favorite work memories included his boys taking turns riding along with him on their summer breaks. Two of his sons followed in his footsteps to drive professionally. Gary never met a stranger; he would strike up a conversation with people everywhere he went. He loved big family gatherings and would make enough food to feed an army twice over. He was the fun one that always made everyone laugh. Gary was an animal lover, always having many dogs, and shared that love of animals with his fiancé Kira. They enjoyed spending time together caring for their horses and other animals together on their farm. Gary was preceded in death by his father Wayne, Uncles Lee and Lynn, and Marly. He is survived by his fiancé Kira DeAtley; his mother Kathleen; his siblings Craig (Stacy), Mark (Rachel), and Megan; Sons Matthew (Whitney), Brett (Ariel), and Garrett. Grandchildren Karson, Luke (Brett) Emery, Adalee (Matthew) and Georgia DeAtley (Dutch), in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews that loved spending time with him. The Family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers in this time of great loss. A memorial will be held at Buckner Restoration Branch (2607 N Twyman road, Independence MO 64058) on Monday April 1st at 10:00am.
