Gene Downen, 58 of Grain Valley MO, passed away peacefully at CenterPoint hospital on Thursday April 28th 2022. He was a very loving husband, dad and papa. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals Fan. He loved to go bowling and playing 18 holes at the golf course. He loved all his kids and loved spending as much time with them and his grand kids. Gene was survived by his loving wife of 17 years Cheryle Downen, mother in law Nancy Powers of Grain Valley MO, his brother Rusty Bookout (Denise) of Linus, MO, his sister Tammy Fielder of Milan, MO, his step sister Joanne Jeffers, his sister in law Helen Gales of Detroit MI, brother in law Doug Powers of Grain Valley, MO, brother in law David Powers of Columbia, MO, his 4 children Melissa Beard (Scott) of Oak Grove, MO, Janis Czirr (Mark) of Blue Springs MO, Rachel Houk (Joseph Douglas) of Seligman, MO and Russell Houk (Kera) of Booneville, MO, Niece Shannon Powers of Grain Valley MO, as well as 11 grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Janet Bookout. Gene will be cremated and a memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 7th, 2022 at his home in Grain Valley, MO from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M.
