Glenda Irene Lasater, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Independence Manor Care Center in Independence, MO, where she had resided for the past year. Glenda was a 1954 high school graduate of William Chrisman High School, and attended business college, preparing her for work as an Administrative Assistant. Her first job was with her father in his grocery store, where she earned enough money to purchase her first car and have spending money, particularly for eating out at her favorite, Clem’s Drive-In. Cars and eating out remained passions for Glenda throughout her life, as she took great care to maintain her cars, always had an eye out for the latest models, and loved going to favorite restaurants with friends and family. In later years, she took particular joy in spending time with her grandchildren, both at home and on countless outings. Glenda held various jobs throughout her life, in offices in earlier years, and in direct sales at large stores and shopping centers. She was known to carry lumber for her husband’s construction company at times. She was talented musically, playing the piano and saxophone, and was instrumental in the formation of the contemporary gospel band of her three sons, “The Brothers Three.” She was the first pianist for the group. She played both piano and saxophone for many worship services in her local church. In later years, she found great enjoyment in the music and music videos of Bill and Gloria Gaither and friends. A visitor in her home could expect to hear or see playing a Gaither video upon arrival. In her final days, songs and videos were played, contributing to the spirit of hope and peace that her life of faith had brought to her, even to the end. Glenda was the daughter of Fred George Eckinger and Ella Irene (Fensom) Eckinger. She was born on December 19, 1936, and had two siblings, Freda Kay and Fred, Jr. “Buddy,” who died at a young age. In 1956, she married Carroll William Quattlebaum, and together they had three sons, Fritz William, Carlton Scott, and Stuart Lynn. Carroll tragically died in an accident in 1967, leaving thirty-one year old Glenda with three young sons to raise. In 1969, she met and married Keith Lasater, and together they had one daughter, Tamara Dawn. They remained married until his death in 2016. Glenda is survived by her children, Fritz, Carlton (Tammy), Stuart (Keri), and Tammy Carter (Jeremy, deceased). She leaves six grandchildren – Nathan Arevalo, Jon Quattlebaum (Kaylee), Sarah Worley (Isaac), Joey Carter, Kyle Carter, and Kaden Carter. Glenda was great-grandmother to one child, Judah Scott Worley. She was a long-time member of Blue Springs Assembly of God in Blue Springs, MO, where she and her husband served for many years as Sunday School teachers. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Blue Springs Assembly of God Church, 2501 E. Duncan, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral to follow at 7:00 PM. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the Love Fund of Blue Springs Assembly of God. The Love Fund distributes gifts of benevolence to those in need in the community.
