Helen M. McGinnis


Helen Marie McGinnis, 85, of Kingsville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at her home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. 

Helen was born September 25, 1931, in Phillipsburg, Missouri, the daughter of Wade and Rosetta (Shilkett) Conrad.  They moved to Nowata County, Oklahoma, where she grew up on the family farm with her five sisters and three brothers.  She attended Enterprise Academy, where she met her husband, Billy McGinnis.  Helen worked for many years as a beautician, and then as a customer service supervisor at Hall’s store on the Plaza.  She then worked at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in the medical records department.  Helen was a member of the Oak Grove SDA Church.  She loved the Lord with all her heart and dedicated her life to Him.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Billy McGinnis; two daughters: Judy Schiefelbusch and Connie Daarud; three grandsons: Bill Schiefelbusch, Ben Schiefelbusch, and Matthew Daarud; three great-grandchildren: Candace Miller, Caleb Schiefelbusch, and Ashley Schiefelbusch; two great great-grandchildren: Jeremiah and Sophia Bolin; her sisters: Jean, Jane, Lucille, Frances, and Becky; and her brothers: Delbert, Leon, and Milton.

  1. It is heart breaking to hear that aunt Helen is no longer with her beloved family. Her kind and gentle spirit are among my most treasured childhood memories of her. As we all say goodbye to Helen let’s make this a time for gathering all the best of a good life into the pages of memory, to be held in our hearts forever!
