Hoyt “Rex” Brown


Hoyt Rex Brown, age 96 of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away on December 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00pm Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Monday at Oak Grove Restoration Branch. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Restoration Branch or Bates City Restoration Branch.

Rex was born on August 31, 1928 in McNary County Selmer, Tennessee. He made it to the 6th grade in school and later entered the service just before turning 18 where he served from 1945-1952 in the United States Army.

He married the love of his life Josephine Booker on July 3, 1948 in Kenneth, Missouri and later moved to Oak Grove where they raised their 4 children.

Rex retired from Ford Motor Company in 1990 with 34 years of service. He was an Elder at the RLDS Church Oak Grove Congregation. He loved bowling and growing his vegetable garden. But his biggest pride and joy were his grandkids and he enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them. There are 6 name sakes in the family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine, great granddaughter Bailey, son Tommy, daughter Gail, Parents and 3 brothers. He is survived by son Hoyt Dwayne, daughter Tina Rexene (Kerry), grandchildren; Christopher (Megan), Misty (Greg), Jonathan, Josephine (Willie), Billy Jo Hoyt (Angie), Suzanne, Hoyt Dominic (Kim), Jacobi, Nichole (Kevin), CheyAnne (Jeff), Jason Hoyt (Jacquie) Lauren (Skip), K.D. And 23 great grandchildren. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy.
