James D. Austin Jr.


James Davis Austin Jr., 73, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Eastside Baptist Church, 19901 Missouri 78, Independence, MO 64057.

James was born August 10, 1943 in Tampa, Florida. He was an Air Force Veteran. He cooked for Disney World for several years. He was also a limo driver for Carey Limo before retiring. James (MU JIM) was an avid Missouri Tigers football fan. He loved the fall and the beginning of the college football season. He held season football tickets for 24 years. James was a member of North East Baptist Church in Independence, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Patricia Austin; and son, James J. Austin Jr.

He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Mona Austin of the home; daughter, Sherri Clay (Lonnie) of Raytown, MO; 2 stepsons, Rick Eidson (Mary) of Independence, MO, and Jeremy Tweedy (Sue) of Bates City, MO; 5 grandchildren, Austin and Camron Feugate, and Annalyn Clay of Raytown, MO, and Brittney and Alex Eidson of Independence, MO; 2 kiddos very special to him, Isaac Clark and Journey White of Bates City, MO; brother and sister, Ronald Austin and Patricia Donald of Florida; nieces and nephews of Florida and Texas; and lots of friends who cared a lot about him.
