James F. Frazier

James Fred Frazier, 85, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away February 13, 2017. Graveside service will be Friday, February 17, at 1:00 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the #499 American Legion Post, 499 S 7 Hwy, Blue Springs, from 5-7 pm.  In lieu of gifts, the family suggest contributions to Veterans Assistance League Unit D,  c/o  L. Koetting, 1300 Veterans Road, Warrensburg, MO 64093.

James was born on August 24, 1931 in Kansas City, son of Fred and Opal (England) Frazier. He graduated in 1948 from East High School in Kansas City. He was a Navy Veteran, serving from 1951-55 during the Korean War.  He worked for the Soo Line Railroad for 33 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Post #499 in Blue Springs, Post Commander from 1997-1998, and bingo chairman for many years.

Jim’s life was spent participating in many hobbies and pastimes.  For many years, he was a proud member of the Ford Model A Club.  He spent hours making furniture and other woodworking projects for family and friends to enjoy for years to come.  He loved hunting just about anything that moved.  Another pastime, fishing, led him to Truman Lake after retirement.  During this time at Truman, he and Georgia went RV’ing to Texas each year with friends from the Eagle’s Nest. Perhaps his most treasured pastime was spending time with his grandkids, giving them pet names, having them help in his garden, and feeding them “beans and beer”. Jim will be remembered for his intense focus on anything he set his mind to make or do and the hard labor it took to complete it, usually outworking everyone around him.

James is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Robert, John and Jerry Frazier. His survivors include his wife of 34 years, Georgia Frazier of the home; 6 children/stepchildren: Jami (Dan) Kester of Grain Valley, MO,  Carla (Bryan) Gerdes of Independence, MO,  Joseph (Cathy) Bajkowski of Elmhurst, IL, Daniel Bajkowski (Donna) of Houston, TX, Anthony (Jennifer) Bajkowski of Grain Valley, MO, and Dennis (Sarah) Bajkowski, of Oak Grove, MO; sister, Shirley Hall of Kansas City, MO; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
