James L. Carmichael


James L. Carmichael, age 84, of Oak Grove, Missouri, reunited with his wife in heaven on Friday May 27, 2022. Graveside services will be held on Friday June 10, 2022 at 1:00pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Richmond, Missouri. James was born on October 13, 1937 to Harold R. and Rose Honor Carmichael in Richmond, Missouri. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1955. After serving in the United States Army, he met and married his wife, Ruth, of 59 years before her passing in 2019. Jim and Ruth raised 3 children and 2 grandchildren together on their farm in Oak Grove, Mo. He retired from Missouri Gas Company in 1994 to continue on with his passion and love for farming. Their family was recognized as Farm Family of the Year in Jackson County. Additionally, they were co- owners of a western wear store before owning Tarsney Country Store and later, J&R Hauling together. They were blessed to travel this beautiful world together, while passing that love to generations to come. He was a collector of antiques and wouldn’t pass up an auction, no matter where it led him. They later became snowbirds in Texas where “Jimmy ” found his talent in woodworking. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Raytown and the Ararat Shrine Temple.

Jim leaves behind three children: LeeAnn Snodgrass (Rick) of Oak Grove, Mo. Pamela Wilson (Kenny) of Leeton, Mo, and Ronald Carmichael. Seven grandchildren: Justin Shouse (Chasity), Brooke Krekeler (Mark), Travis Snodgrass (Chelsea), Jamie Wilcox (Brian), Ashley Flower (Amanda), Stephen Carmichael and Kyle Carmichael; and 8 great grandchildren. Sister; Joyce Caton (Lloyd) of Gladstone, Mo. Brother; Darrel Carmichael of Richmond, Mo and Sister, Rosemary Collins (Tim) of Bentonville, Arkansas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 2 brothers; Royce and Bill Carmichael.
