James “Russell” Crim


It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Crim. Russell passed away on March 10, 2026 at the age of 79 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He passed peacefully surrounded by his children.

Russell was born December 29, 1946 in Beeville, TX and started after high school working oil rigs with his father until he entered the navy in 1967. He served with the Attack Squadron 42 working on aircraft on one of the carriers stateside during Vietnam. He then met a girl through mutual friends that he married within 6 months of meeting on October 4, 1968. They moved back to her hometown of Warrensburg, MO where they were blessed with 2 children. He dedicated over 40 years of his life to Swisher Mower and Machine Company, where he was known for his steadfast work ethic and camaraderie.

Russell had a vibrant array of interests that added joy to his life and those around him. He loved fishing, was a NASCAR enthusiast, and had a deep appreciation for everything cajun. He was a devoted fan of Roy Rogers and LSU sports. Russell also enjoyed spending time with his many friends, sharing stories and making memories.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Crim; daughter Kelly Trauschke, son-in-law Justin Trauschke, and grandchildren Jake Frede, Nick Frede, and Delaney Trauschke; son Billy Crim; brother Mike Crim and family; sister Melanie Ezell and family; Sister-in-law Phyllis Hitaffer and family; and sister by love Susan Crim. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Myra.

Russell will be remembered for his kind spirit, his dedication to his family, friends, and country, and his ability to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.

The family is in process of planning a memorial service and will reach out when finalized.
