Janice Kristine Atwood, 85, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab, Oak Grove, MO. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 18th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19th at Point of Hope Church, Blue Springs, MO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21st in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. Janice was born December 28, 1929 in Echo, Minnesota, the daughter of Hilding and Hannah (Mjelde) Johnson. She was a pharmacist. Janice and her husband, Frank opened Bates City BBQ in 1976, and is now being run by members of their family. She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters. Her survivors include her daughter, Julie Lofquist (Duane) of Blue Springs; 2 sons: John Atwood of Denver, CO, and Mike Atwood (Misty) of Blue Springs; 6 grandchildren: Ben, Heather, Holly, Ria, Blake, & Ali; and 3 great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Logan, & Kolten.
