Janie E. Sherrell, 58, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3rd in Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, AR. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, OCRF.org.
Janie was born July 9, 1961 in Independence, MO. In 1979 she graduated from Blue Springs High School and went on to attend college at the University of Central Missouri. She was an extremely hard worker and taught herself many skills throughout her life. She loved to hunt, ride motorcycles and spent lots of time working in a garden. Janie enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, and cooking homemade recipes. She was a dear friend to many and was always willing to lend a hand and a smile. She loved being a mother and a Grammy even more.
Janie was preceded by her husband, Gene Sherrell. She is survived by her parents, Bill and Marge Shipman; sister, Barbara Head; brother, Billy Jack (Natalie) Shipman; children, Stacy Keil, Daniel Keil, Shelby (Taylor) York and stepson, Brandon (Krista) Sherrell; and grandchildren, Rivington York, Jackson Sherrell, and Rylan Sherrell.
