Jeanne Rowe passed away on December 13, 2021 at the age of 75, in her home in Independence, MO.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Jeanne was born on August 19, 1946 to the late Floyd Earl Harper and Selma Viola Harper in Chilliwack British Columbia. She was the second daughter of 5 kids. Jeanne grew up in Canada until the age of 13. She had two brothers and two sisters and whenever they were together, laughter could be heard from miles away. She was known to be the protector of the family, and it’s been said that she wasn’t afraid to use her little pink lunch box as a weapon if the neighborhood bullies tried to pick on her siblings. She had a love for baseball and loved to play with the neighborhood kids. Once when asked about what kind of baseball she played, she said, “fast pitch with all of the boys”. She also added that she didn’t have a glove and that she played barehanded. Jeanne moved to the United States in high school and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1965. At the age of 30, Jeanne and her sister Linda studied together and acquired their Certificate of Nationalization and became official US citizens. Jeanne married Robert Rowe lll in 1970. Together they had two sons, three incredible grandchildren and six beautiful great grandchildren. Family was absolutely everything to her and she felt that there was nothing more important in her life than being there for loved ones. She was a great listener and always optimistic. If you ever went to her with a problem that you just knew was going to end the world as you know it, she would calm you down and assure you that everything was going to be ok. Jeanne was very competitive and enjoyed playing games. Whether she was slinging horse shoes in the backyard or rolling dice of a board game in the kitchen, she was competitive and played to win. As a young mother, she could be found playing baseball burnout in her backyard with her son Brian. They would throw the baseball as hard as they could at each other and try to “burn” each others catching hand. She earned the nickname “the Hammer” from her youngest son playing a board game called Aggravation. She would chase her opponent around the board trying to send them back to their base, even if it meant that she could have made it home herself. One of the greatest traits of Jeanne was her ability to find the good in a person. She felt that everyone had good in them, even if it might be hard to find. She seemed to see life threw a special filter, one that allowed her to see only the good in a person and leave out all of the bad.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, Robert, her children, Brian and Curtis, her three grandchildren, Cory, Stephanie and Dylan, and her six great grandchildren, Angel, Madison, Bentley, Carter, Dakota and Felix. Jeanne is also survived by her four siblings, Mervin, David, Linda and Alice.

Jeanne will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
