After a heroic three-year battle with kidney cancer, Jennifer Michelle Roe Rankin passed away peacefully December 7, 2023 at her parents’ home surrounded by her family.
Jennifer was born to Jeffrey and Shannon Roe on March 26, 1975, was raised in the Independence area and graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1993. Jennifer’s life was centered around her children, Jared, James, and Payge and husband of seventeen years, Paul Rankin. Jennifer was actively involved in each of her children’s activities of basketball, band, and Future Farmers of America at Climax Springs (MO) School District and the Special Olympics. Jennifer and Paul made their home in Edwards, MO but remained closely tied to the Independence area through family and friends. She was the definition of a kind and loving soul, best friend, and adoring daughter, sister, and mother. Jennifer’s loss creates an unfillable void the hearts and lives of her family but her battle with cancer leaves the family in awe of her bravery, perseverance, and unbreakable spirit.
In addition to her husband, children, and parents, Jennifer is survived by sister Adrienne Roe Mackland (Thomas) of Independence, MO and brother Brad Roe (Ciara) of Fort Worth, TX.
A visitation followed by memorial service will be held Thursday, December 14 at First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Pleasant St, Independence, MO at 10AM and 11AM, respectively. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to KidneyCAN in Jennifer’s name at KidneyCAN.org.
