Joanne C. Ford


Joanne Carolyn Ford, 79, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at her home in Independence, Missouri.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 11th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in New Salem Cemetery, Independence.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Joanne was born December 20, 1937 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of Harold Monroe and Rene (Clough) Hannaford. She was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls in her younger years.  She enjoyed sailing, fishing camping and travelling. Joanne also loved her art class at Kansas City Metropolitan College.  On her travels, she and Bob usually brought home a rock from the place they visited, which became a large collection in front of their home. 

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert D. “Bob” Ford; three sons:  Bryan Ford (wife, Heidi) of Lowry City, MO, Curtis Ford, and Michael Ford (wife, Pam) of Independence, MO; two granddaughters: Whitney and Michaela; and two great-grandchildren: Auden and Cid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Raymond Ford, one brother Harold Hannaford, and nephew Monty Hannaford.
