
John Albert Hargrove, of Independence, Missouri, 94 years old, returned to his heavenly home on March 17, 2023. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Independence 500 W. Truman Rd; Independence, MO 64050. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial at New Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Independence.
John was born December 16, 1928 in Independence, MO to Ivan N & Lola (Chitwood) Hargrove. At the age of 16 he learned woodworking through school which he began his love for working and his ability to build two of his homes. He worked for Standard Oil and afterwards bought the KC Star paper route. John & Margaret loved to travel, fishing with family and friends and were members of the Independence Horseshoe Club. They were charter members of Susquehanna Baptist Church. John continued his service as a faithful member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret of 72 years, sisters: Maxine, Virginia, Betty; brother Don; granddaughter Laura Beth Lynn.
John is survived by his children: Nancy Goodrich (Bert) of Las Vegas, NV, Joan (George-deceased) Lynn of Independence, MO, Paula Mackesty of Independence, MO, John Allan Hargrove (Beth) of Ottawa, KS, Mary Wilcox (Don) of Oak Grove, MO; His grandchildren include Tammy Lynn, Nancy Lynn, Johnny Lynn, Nathan Ahuna (Sharon), Josh Ahuna (Shannon), Summer Bottenberg (Brett), Patricia Hargrove, Andrea Crandall, Christopher Wilcox (Tai), Dustin Mackesty, David Mackesty, Brittany Mallinson, Holly Hoch (Ben), Van Goodrich (Monique), He had 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The world seems empty to those who knew him.

John & Beth, these are sad times & yet hopeful times. I loved the terminology “John has GONE back to his heavenly home.” One day May we all walk that wonderful way to be with our savior. God bless, all.
