John T. Cairer

John “Todd” Cairer, 51, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed August 21, 2022. Todd spent 28 years with his wife and best friend, Kathy Cairer, whom he shared 2 boys with. Whether traveling with his wife Kathy, or coaching and watching his sons play sports, Todd’s family was his entire world. A Blue Springs High School and UCM alumni, Todd was a proud Kansas City union carpenter for almost 30 years, and he loved sharing with others about the buildings that he had worked on. Todd put his family first, oftentimes going without to ensure his loved ones had everything that they wanted first. Todd embodied what it meant to be a provider, supporter, husband, and father. His daily phone calls after work to whomever would listen will be greatly missed, but his mark that he left on those around him will not soon be forgotten.

Todd was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Sylvia Marie (Phelps) Banner and Eugene George Semkin, paternal grandparents Bertha Mae (Arnold) Cairer and John Lee Cairer, and great uncle Edgar Phelps “Uncle Junior” and great aunt Betty (Hall) Phelps.

Todd is survived by his wife, Kathy (Broeker) Cairer, his eldest son Logan Cairer and wife Hunter (Berry) Cairer, youngest son Landon Cairer, his mother Linda (Semkin) Cairer and father John Cairer, brother Chad Cairer and wife April (Davenport) Cairer, his many nephews, and his many football and wrestling sons.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, we ask that anyone who can, to please make a charitable donation to the Oak Grove Athletic Booster Club in Todd’s name. Todd loved watching his boys and the Oak Grove Panther wrestling and football teams over the years. Envelopes for donations will be available at Todd’s celebration of life, or donations can be sent to Oak Grove ABC @ PO Box 437 Oak Grove, MO 64075.

Celebration of life for Todd will be held from 2 – 4 pm at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, Missouri on Saturday, August 27th. Todd would insist that those in attendance do NOT dress up for the occasion. Jeans and a nice shirt (OG Panther sports attire preferred) would be fine.

Obituary submitted by family.

  1. Thoughts and prayers for the Cairer family

  2. I went to school with Todd graduating in 89 at Blue springs. He had great character and was a good friend. My condolences to his wife and children and extended family. Todd invited me to my first boy girl dance on Valentine’s Day 7th grade in his parents’ garage. Although it’s been many years it seems not that long ago that we joked his parents didn’t need to chaperone us cuz we were so young and intimidated by the opposite sex. Focus on the positives and keep your faith. God bless
