Johnny L. Monroe


Johnny L. Monroe was born March 8, 1987, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  Johnny attended Oak Grove High School and graduated in 2005.  During high school, Johnny attended Fort Osage Career & Technology Center and obtained a Certificate in Auto Body.  After high school, Johnny completed and Associates Degree from Blue River Community College. 

Johnny began his career as a Deck Hand with Kirby in Houston, Texas.  He went on to receive training as a Tankerman and received his Merchant Mariner Credential for Tankerman.  At the time of his death, Johnny was employed as a Tankerman Supervisor with American Commercial Lines in Houston, Texas. 

Johnny was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time with his uncle, Keith Wilbee, hunting and fishing.  He left behind his parents, Kevin and Lorri Kobe of Lone Jack, Missouri, and John and Tana Monroe of Higginsville, Missouri.  He leaves behind his sister, Jennie Evinger, her husband, Pat, his niece, Kennedy, and his half-sister, Tara Monroe.  He also leaves behind his grandparents, Patricia Hughes of Odessa, Missouri, and Raymond Frampton of Warsaw, Missouri, as well as a large number of other family members.   He leaves behind his long-time friends, Dalton Howard and Byron Stallman, and Andy Anderson, all of whom he graduated with at Oak Grove High School, as well as his Texas friends, Levi and D.J. of Lousiana.  At the time of his death, Johnny was preparing to transfer to Kentucky with his girlfriend, Amanda Alexander. 

Though Johnny’s life was short, he lived it to the fullest.   And though he will be strongly missed by everyone that cared about him, he will never be forgotten. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 4th at Oak Grove Cemetery, 28th Street & Cemetery Road, Oak Grove.
