Joseph R. Riddell


Joseph Richard “Butch” Riddell, 71, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richards name, may be made payable to Adam Riddell for the continued care of his daughter, Elizabeth Washburn.

Richard was born September 1, 1950 in Jackson County, Missouri. Son of Francis Joseph and Eva Mildred (Scott) Riddell. Richard/Butch was well respected and known in the construction industry and heavy highway construction. He led and completed multiple multi-million dollar projects and was recognized for the safety and quality by MoDOT & KDOT. He Served 50 plus years primarily with Superior Asphalt and Superior Bowen. When not working, his passion was watching Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, Old Western and Military movies, fishing, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his stepdaughter and three grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Francis Riddell; mother, Eva Riddell; and sister, Sharon Parker

Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sherry Riddell; son, Adam Riddell and wife, Amy; grandkids: Parker Riddell, Kinsley Riddell and Harlow Riddell; step-daughter, Elizabeth Washburn; sister, Mary Burke, brother, Larry Riddell and Wife Paula; and sister Nancy Stockton; and many nieces and nephews.
