Joy graduated East High School in Kansas City, MO in 1963. She held various jobs throughout her life, including telephone operator and Blue Springs Examiner newspaper employee; but her favorite titles were those of homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother,
An avid historian and voracious reader, Joy spent her life surrounded by books and never tired of learning. A keen observer of historic and current events alike, she travelled the world from her armchair, taking notes and drinking tea.
Though quiet and reserved by nature, Joy occasionally shared her sharp wit and wry observations, as well as her love of birdwatching, reading, baking and quilting, with those privileged to know her well.
Joy was a writer, a Christian active in her church for many years, and an unsung champion of her favorite show, Jeopardy! She will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
