Kathleen Joy Apley, 64, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on February 15, 2017 at North Care Hospice House. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 20th at Summit Grove Community of Christ Church, 411 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64050. The visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Theodore Apley for her grandson, Benjamin Apley’s, college education.

Kathleen was born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Joyce Bailey. She graduated from Shawnee Mission West in the spring of 1970. She retired from the Independence School district, where she worked as a Lunch Lady, and then a Para Professional at Independence Academy.
Kathleen belonged to the Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed camping, quilting, sewing, crafting, being a mom and wife, and most important being a grandma. Kathleen will be remembered for her acceptance, love, faith, her funny smile, laugh, adventurous spirit, and being stubborn. If she didn’t want to do it, it didn’t get done.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 38 wonderful years, Theodore Apley; children: Khristopher and wife Debby Apley, Katrina Apley, and Rossana Fau; grandchild, Benjamin Apley; brothers, Jim and wife Becky Bailey, and Bruce and wife Caroline Bailey; sister-in-law, Beverly Meremonte; several nieces and nephews; and her sewing circle. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joyce Bailey; sister Marsha Bailey; and grandchildren, Malachi Apley and Layla Owens.
She will be greatly missed by all.
