L.J. Chancellor


L.J. Chancellor was born October 20, 1930 to Luther and Clara Mae Chancellor in Benton County, Missouri. He was the third of four children: JC, Lucille, LJ and Charles William. LJ graduated from Smith Cotton Sedalia, Missouri.

He passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the age of 91. LJ married Emma Lee Etta Wilckens on June 25, 1949. They raised their two sons, Daniel Jay and Gregory Lee on a farm in Warrensburg, MO. After their boys were grown, they relocated to Blue Springs, MO. early in 1974.  LJ was a good father. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and hiking with the family. It was also a great joy to him and his family to spend an occasional weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks with Lucille, Charlie and their families. He was also a good provider, being a carpenter by trade, and later becoming a real estate broker after relocating to Blue Springs.

LJ is preceded in death by his wife, Lee Etta: son, Greg; brother, JC; sister, Lucille; and his parents.

He is survived by his oldest son, Dan (Jan); his younger brother, Charlie (Suzie); daughter-in-law, Judy (Greg deceased); nieces and nephews.

The family of LJ wishes to express deep appreciation and thanks to Uncle Charli, Aunt Suzie, and Judy for all of their hard work and support through this difficult time.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 in Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, Missouri.

  1. I’ve known Lee since 1998. I will always miss him. He was an outstanding man.he was a good Christian man too. I hope his family realize how good of a man he was. I will personally really miss him a lot. He was well liked by everybody. I will always have a special place in heart for him. I was going through a tough time inmy life and he really helped me out with finding Jesus. What he did for me will be forever remembered. I will really miss this guy. Words just can’t express enough how much he meant to me.
