Larry Lee Love was born on March 11th, 1947 to Victor and Bette Love in Independence, Missouri. At an early age, he excelled in academics and had many hobbies, including playing the piano. He was the first graduating class from Truman High School in 1965. He then attended University of Missouri-Kansas City while working at Kroger grocery store and received a degree in accounting. After college, he served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. With his academic achievements and knowledge in accounting, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, working at the pay center of Southeastern Asia. After the war, he returned to Kansas City in 1971 and began his career as an accountant at AT&T. He later transitioned to become a system analyst for international phone services until his retirement in 1998. While working at AT&T, Larry also earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Central Missouri State University. Larry met Linda when they were 11 years old. They grew up on the same street. Their love blossomed as they grew up, and Larry knew Linda was his one true love. In 1968 during the Kansas City riot he drove through the heart of the city, passing burning cars and bricks thrown by rioters, to pick up Linda from her job in downtown Kansas City. In December later that year, he proposed to her. They got married June 28th 1969, just before he was drafted by the Army for the Vietnam War. Linda was able to accompany Larry in Okinawa. After spending two years there, they returned to the US and lived in Independence until 1976. They then moved to Lee’s Summit. Together, they have two wonderful daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. He took pride in both of them. He always encouraged them to do the best and be the best they could be. He even coached their softball teams. If not coaching, he would be at every softball or soccer game cheering the loudest in the stands. He enjoyed gardening, long-distance jogging, and yoga. In recent years, Larry also assumed the father-figure for his beloved grandson. Several years ago, Larry was diagnosed with dementia. Although his condition progressed, he continued to provide his love and care for his family. Although he had difficulty with speech, he expressed his love and encouragement through his eyes and sweet smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Bette Love.
Larry is survived by; his wife, Linda; daughters Jennifer and Jessica; grandson, Dane; and son-in-law, Raoul.
