Larry was born February 12, 1951 in Independence, Missouri. The son of Athal W. and Anna E. (Reeder) Shrout. Larry was a lifelong resident of the Blue Springs area. He was a 1969 graduate of Blue Springs High School and was a member of the First Christian Church of Blue Springs.  Ever industrious, most of Larry’s life’s work involved nearly every aspect of the residential construction industry.  Earlier in life, Larry worked as a nurseryman and landscaper, then for Butler Buildings in construction, and spent a brief time detail painting in a local truck assembly plant. Throughout his life Larry gained deep practical knowledge which complemented his inquisitive, analytical, and mechanical thinking process. If he didn’t know the answer to a question, he knew how to find it. Larry was instrumental in development of the Shrout family farm on South 7 Highway in Blue Springs, MO. He and Cindy planned and built their dream home together, performing much of the physical labor themselves. He enjoyed many good times of both work and play at the Bossert family’s lake home. Larry was a kind, generous, private, honest, and frugal man who stoically faced lifelong serious medical issues without complaint. In October 1990 he received a lifesaving liver transplant and was a faithful steward of that gift ever since.

He is preceded in death by his father and stepmother A. W. “Ben” and Fran Shrout; and by his mother Anna E. (Reeder) Wedding.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia D. Shrout (Bossert); and sister Luanne S. Shrout (James E. Younts) of Kansas City, MO. A legion of loving in-laws, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, step-siblings, and their offspring of the Shrout/Reeder/Bossert families also survive. As the kind and generous man that he was, Larry also leaves countless friends–you know who you are.
