Lloyd Allen Greaves, 71, of Oak Grove, Missouri went home to be with his Savior on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Services will be held on Saturday, November 25th at New Life Church in Oak Grove, MO, with visitation from 12:30-2:00, followed by the funeral at 2:00. Graveside service will immediately follow the funeral at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Lloyd graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO in 1970 and served 20 years in the United States Air Force. Lloyd was a proud and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Lloyd, born on August 7, 1952, proudly spent his life serving the Lord, his family, and his nation. He was loved by many, and his great love for others was apparent by his generosity, and the way he made others feel. His children and grandchildren never questioned how much he loved them. He told them every day.
He spent most of his life working hard to give his wife and boys a beautiful life, full of consistency, love, and adventure. Him and Joyce were stationed in Germany together when they were first married, and although they knew no one, they were full of peace because they always said to each other, “It’s us against the world.” As long as they had each other, they’d be okay. After they had children they were stationed in Germany a second time, and this time got to spend 4 years raising their boys in a beautiful place, where they spent weekends exploring new places, trying new foods, and living life to the fullest.
Their family spend summers traveling all over the United States on road trips. They went on cruises, vacationed in Hawaii, and made memories they will cherish forever.
Each of their boys went on to live their lives with the same love for life and travel. Derek was stationed in Guam with his family for 4 years, Jared was stationed in Hawaii with his family for 8 years, and Brandon and his wife Ruth have been living in Honduras, heading up conservation projects for many years.
Lloyd spent his retirement traveling to visit his grandkids, attending grandkids sports and activities, and enjoying each day with his wife Joyce. They went on many trips, cruises, to dinner theatre, and starlight often, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
He was an amazing man, and will be greatly missed.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Greaves; his father-in-law, Frank L. Cox; and his mother-in-law, Jesse L. Cox.
Lloyd’s survivors include his wife, Joyce Greaves of Oak Grove, MO; his 3 sons: Brandon Greaves (Ruth) of Honduras/Omaha, Derek Greaves (Mindy) of Oak Grove, MO, and Jared Greaves (Kara) of Bellevue, NE; his 10 grandchildren: Jude, Norah, Ford, Emmett, Everett, Max, Manny, Leonidas, Oliver, and Aveline; his mother Clara Greaves of Independence, MO; and his sister Roberta (Billy) Griffin.
