Martha Jean Kennedy Philpott, 95, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on February 25, 2022, at Centerpoint Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2nd in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation or at eyesight.org.
Jean was born May 25, 1926, in Lone Jack, Missouri, the daughter of William R. and Charlotte E. (Cave) Kennedy. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, crappie fishing, and listening to the Royals’ games, and was very involved in Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Jean especially enjoyed traveling with her husband, Fred, and spending winters in Arizona. She was a super loving and kind person.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Philpott; and two sisters, Elizabeth Miekel and Marion Simmons.
Her survivors include two sons: John C. Philpott (Patricia) of Kansas City, MO, and David R. Philpott (Dianna) of Gladstone, MO; and two grandchildren, James Brewer Jr., and Valorie Jack.
