Marguerite J. Calvert


Marguerite Jean Calvert, 90, of Lone Jack, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1st at New Liberty Baptist Church, Oak Grove, MO; burial in Floral Hills East, Lee’s Summit, MO.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Show Me Christian Youth Home.

Marguerite was born May 8, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Alvin Clarence and Julia Ann (Fugate) Johnson.  She was the top Avon Salesperson for 23 years and she also did bookkeeping and accounting for various companies over the years.  Marguerite was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church since 1964, where she was the church secretary for many years.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Leslie in 2019; two brothers, Bob Johnson and Warren Johnson; and great-grandson, Jonathon Dabney.

Her survivors include her daughter, Kathy Warren (John) of Oak Grove, MO; son, Walter “Tiny” Calvert (Gloria) of Lone Jack, MO; 8 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bettie Haynie (Phil) of Gladstone, MO; brother, JR Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; 3 sisters-in-law: Mary Johnson of Blue Springs, MO, Thelma Quick of Lowry City, MO, and Linda Calvert of Independence, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

  1. I remember Marge as always smiling. She was a hard worker for the Lord. She and Les were over our youth group. Always a fun person. Will miss you!
