Mary Ann (Biggar) Friend, 87, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020. Services will be held at a later date.
Mary Ann was born on January 24, 1933 in Denver, Colorado, to David and Amelia Biggar. She grew up in Littleton, Colorado with her parents, brother David and sister Joy. She graduated from Littleton High School and a year later met the love of her life, Michael Don Friend. Mary Ann and Don were married in Littleton, Colorado on October 17, 1952.
They resided in Littleton and welcomed a daughter, Judy. After moving to Louviers, Colorado, they welcomed their sons, Michael and Duane, and daughter Melissa. They resided in Louviers for a few years and then moved to Castle Rock, Colorado, where the welcomed their son Daniel. Mary Ann and Don raised their children in Castle Rock, Colorado and resided there until 1984 when they relocated to Holden, Missouri. They resided in Holden, Missouri and after Don’s passing in 2014, Mary Ann moved to Independence, Missouri, where she resided until her death on June 22, 2020.
Mary Ann is survived by her five children: Judy (Clint), Michael (Linda) , Duane (Dana), Melissa (Steve) and Dan (Marlene); nine grandchildren: Mick (Abby), Lance (Kelsey), Aaron, Jaren, Amy (Aaron), Sarena, Chelsey, Christa (Nathan) and Laura; and seven great-grandchildren: Madaline, Brady, Shannon, Mason, Vincent, Paige and Levi; as well as many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Mary Ann was known to have a sweet disposition and was a friend to all who knew her. She had a wonderful smile and was a joy to be around. Mary Ann loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going shopping with her friends. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making meals for her family.
