Mary Katherine Bathgate, 86, of Independence, Missouri, went to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 22nd at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mary was born on September 25, 1931 in Braymer, Missouri, the daughter of Ira L. and Goldie (Martin) Pemberton. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to cook, read, and spend time with her family. Mary lived at Palmer Place and enjoyed fellowship with her many friends. In the 1970’s, she worked in the snack bar at Fort Osage High School.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence T. Bathgate; and her brothers, Junior, Jack and Bobby.
She is survived by three children: Connie Carter (Richard) and Steve Bathgate both of Independence, and David Bathgate (Laura) of Trophy Club, TX; six grandchildren: Jeremy Carter (Tammy), Nathan Carter (Amanda), Steven Bathgate, Kayleigh Sandage (Andrew), Sage Bathgate, and Tate Bathgate; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Oswald of Grandview, MO, and Donna Wilson of St Joseph, MO; and one brother, Billy Pemberton.
