Matthew Paul Seth Gutierrez, 33, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at his home in Independence, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in New Salem Cemetery, Independence. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Matthew was born September 11, 1983 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Steven L. and Resa K. Gutierrez. After graduating at Fort Osage High School, he went to Houston, Texas and attended UTU. When he returned home, Matthew was hired as a Carman at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, and was there for twelve years.
Survivors include his parents; brother, Mark J.D. Gutierrez (Heather); one nephew, 5-year-old Dexter J. Gutierrez; one niece, 1-year-old Salem Marie Rose; his girlfriend of 1 year and 8 months and their planned future, Tina Marie Quick; his grandmother, Ruby M. Leap; and many loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
