Michael D. Hart

Michael Dean Hart, 77, died Dec. 17, 2024, at Jackson Creek Memory Care, Independence, MO. Mike was born on July 26, 1947, in Kansas City, to Aurice and Ethelyn Hart.  He learned from his parents how to work hard and spent most of his time working alongside them working on the family egg and dairy farm. He often had to milk cows before and after school, so there wasn’t much time for anything else, except he excelled in 4-H projects, especially when showing hogs and doing tractor competitions.

After graduating from Blue Springs High School, Mike attended CMSU (now UCM).Once out of college, Mike went to work for the United States Postal Service working his way from a letter carrier to the garage and finally up to Maintenance Supervisor. He retired in 2002 after 35 years. Mike was a hustler and owned and operated Hart Enterprises, offering landscaping, custom mowing, tilling, and hay baling.

When he wasn’t at the post office, in a hay field, or at cattle shows with his daughter, he could be found in a few select restaurants sipping coffee and making friends. He loved to talk, didn’t know a stranger, and his laugh was contagious.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 38 years, Charlene Hart.

Survivors include one daughter Jennifer (Aaron) Case; 6 grandchildren Cory, Aaron, DJ, Destiny and Izaak Case, Mikayla Todd, and 2 great-grandsons; one brother, John (Sally) Hart; 3 sisters Ethelyn (Jay) Carr, Becky Hart, and Barbara Maxwell.

Visitation will be held at Royer Funeral Home on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral and graveside services immediately following.
