Michael R. Tebben

Michael Roy Tebben, 74, was called home on December 28, 2023. He was born on April 10,1949 in Algona, Iowa to Tony and Doris Tebben. He was a 1967 graduate of Milan High School. In 1968 he married Peggy Hines and they were blessed with three children. He obtained a B.S. in Accounting at Northeast Missouri State University- Kirksville, MO. Mike worked as a tax auditor for the IRS for 32 years. Upon retirement, he worked part-time for Mid-Continent Public Libraries.

Mike married Jan Tiedeman in 1991, which added two daughters to the family. Jan and Mike enjoyed spending time with family, cruising the Caribbean, and taco Tuesday with friends. They were active with the First Baptist Church- Oak Grove.

For many years, Mike’s hobby was woodworking- he built and refinished many pieces of furniture for friends and family. His son inherited his talent and passion for this. He also spent a great deal of time supporting his kids’ activities, playing games, and taking his daughters on movie dates. He looked forward to the annual Tebben family reunions, which included plenty of card games, especially Cribbage.

Mike was a man of honesty, integrity and wisdom. Anyone who knew him was aware of his love for Jesus, which he shared with almost anyone he met. He will be remembered by his contagious laughter, his ever-present smile, and exuberant joy.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his five brothers: Richard, Rob, Russ, Lenny and Larry. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Jan Tebben, children: Jeff Tebben (Christine), Amy Nadeau (Mark), Sara Nadeau (Randy), and two step-daughters, Angie Ball (Kevin), Melanie Tiedeman (Priscilla) and 14 grandkids and five great-grandkids. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the City Union Mission or First Baptist Church, Oak Grove. For a personal contribution, tell someone Jesus loves them.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the service, at First Baptist Church, Oak Grove, MO. Interment will take place at a later date.

  2. I met Mike in 4th grade, when our 2 small Northern Iowa schools merged. Even though our paths went different directions, we remained friends forever. Mike was a fine, Christian man, who will be missed by many. Say hello to my wife Carol up there in Heaven. She’ll be glad to see you again.

  3. My prayers for Mike’s Family
