Nancy J. Crawford


Nancy Jane (Edmondson) Crawford, 67, of Independence, Missouri, lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, May 4, 2017.  A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday May 13th at New Salem Funeral Home in Independence.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Special Olympics Missouri, Children’s Mercy Hospital, or the charity of your choice. 

Nancy was born March 10, 1950, the daughter of Lawrence George and Helen Lorene (Pine) Edmondson.  Nancy graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1968 and went to work at Allis-Chalmers where she met George Crawford, the love of her life.  George and Nancy were married August 1, 1969 and enjoyed 38 years together before George passed away in 2008. 

Nancy ran a home day care for many years, worked for a magazine publishing company and retired in 2014 from Rainbow Center for Communicative Disorders.  Nancy was a member of the Pilot Club of Blue Springs and proudly served as editor of the Governors Bulletin for the KS-MO District for three years.

She is survived by son, Daniel E. Crawford (Amanda) of Hamilton, MO; daughter, Kimberly M. Crawford of Independence; sister, Judith A. Craig (Calvin) of Independence; three grandchildren: Aaron B. Crawford, Mercedes R. Crawford and Cameron L. Crawford all of Hamilton, MO; and many dear friends and extended family.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Dr. L. Vincent Edmondson.
